First Sign of Fall

Has funky colored dried corn really become a symbol of fall? No matter, I like the way it looks.

Connecticut

I couldn't resist sharing the images from an apple farm we visited in Southeastern Connecticut. The mums were very colurful and actually blew out the reds and whites on most of my shots. I should've bracketed the shots :( The apples were delicious. I've had fresh (not the marketing definition of fresh) plums and peaches, picked right off the tree, what a treat. Well, these apples did not disappoint. Better than any supermarket apples. We're way too far south to have real apples trees that will produce fruit. I wish I had one now.

Brooklyn from Across the East River

Just wanted to share one last photo of Brooklyn as the sun sets on our venture into "the city".

Country in New York

Even in New York you find signs of country living if you look hard enough. The peaches were fresh, sweet and juicy. The peppers were extremely vibrant and colorful (no I didn't bite into one!). And, I even found a water tower (there were actually many). Notice that in "the city" (this is what the locals call Manhattan), the tower is a wooden water tower!
All three photos were taken in Midtown Manhattan at Union Square.

New York - Times Square

Times Square is a really busy spot. People, cars, broadway celebrities, and we even could've seen a Kenny Chesney concert! Wow, variety doesn't begin to describe it.

New York - Manhattan

Finding a quick bite to eat is usually pretty easy in Manhattan. Hot Dog stands, pizza parlors, and bagels. You can get yourself a genuine Texas style hat! (Y'all will have look real close to find'em). Who woulda thunk? Go figure.

Race Day - Continued

A race is not complete without a lot of bannanas! There were 1,110 entrants with only 600 finishing. Although the weather was cool and the route was relatively flat with a few rollers, it turned out to be tougher than imagined.

Race Day

Starting in the wee hours of the morning and then finishing on a really nice afternoon. Here's a few photos with more to come.

1st Day in Rye - cont'd

Here's a preview of finish line and expo for the tri.

1st Day in Rye

Port Chester, Rye, New York, c'mon...get a rope! The hotel is in Port Chester and the triathlon in Rye. For those familiar with San Antonio, it's like going from Castle Hills to Alamo Heights except closer. This picture of trees is our view from the hotel! Very green and very nice weather.

1st Stop - The airports

Hanging out at Chicago O'Hare is....well... not very exciting as you can see.

Trip to Rye, New York

If things work out, I should be able to post updates while on my trip to New York. Plans are to post some non-La Vernia photos soon. Okay, just one more before I go.
